The View from Chicago
I am in Chicago for a wedding, and this is the view out of my favorite hotel room so far this trip. The picture does not do it justice, but from my spot on the 26th floor, I can see the lake, river, and skyline. So far, I have not written a word as I had hoped I would be able to, but I am getting quite a bit of reading in.
This is only my second time in Chicago, but it is a great city. I have city envy over its modernity and multi-layered topography. I highly recommend the architecture boat tour. I have also visited my favorite noodle spot Joy’s Noodles, and I picked up several books at one of my favorite gay bookstores Unabridged, which is only two doors down from Joy’s. There I picked up several out of print titles at a great price, and I also picked up a copy of Patrick Moore’s “Tweaked,” which I am currently reading and cannot put down.
While in Boystown, I stopped off to have a drink at Roscoe’s–one of my favorite bars in the gayborhood. There were several hotties there, but I was distracted by my bag o’books, so I just flipped through them as I sipped my beer. However, I was flattered by the hottie at the end of the bar, and I sure noticed his eye play, but I was kinda busy with my books. Plus, my bf stopped in for a drink, so what’s a girl to do?
Speaking of hotties, Chicago is loaded with’em? What’s up with that? I find the Chicago manscape to be similar to Canada re: the mixture of masculinity and metrosexuality. The boys in Chicago are neatly groomed, but they also keep it masculine, if a bit too sporto frat boy. Nonetheless, my tongue has been wagging nonstop.
