Deckerotica

I am not a fan of writing like others. Truth be told, I rarely read the work of others outside of proper literature. Being a real gay guy, I am given more to Romantic era ideas of originality than traditional literary forms. However, the rhetorical device of imitatio kinda thickens my pen(is). Especially given the Dionysian origin of this device, I find it particularly productive for gay erotica. In time, I will further flesh out the larger piece, but here’s my riff on Molly Bloom’s soliloquy from the final chapter of James Joyce’s Ulysses:

“I was a visitor to his body, yes, when I put the poppers in my nose like the pre-plague boys used or shall I wear a red condom, yes, and how he kissed me through his toes, and I thought, well as well him as another, and then I asked him with my eyes to ask again, yes, and, then he asked me would I, yes, to say yes, my next fuck, and first I put my arms around him, yes, and drew him under me, so he could feel my cock all wet, yes, and his hole was throbbing like mad, and, yes, I said yes, I will, Yes.”

Here’s the original:

While I’ve seen Miss Richfield’s street-schtick, I have not yet seen her show.  However, this poster cracks me up.

Was out buying tickets to a few shows today, and I came across this promotional poster for Well-Strung, Well, this show, which features a string quartet promises to be easy on the eyes. We will have to see about the ears. Edmund Bagnell, who played Toby in The Medium (see other post), is a part of the quartet. It should be interesting to see what they’ve pulled together for the performance.

Showgirls was a blast. Ryan was on point, and Dina was an awesome foil, great way to kick open the season.

I am sitting at Showgirls with an awesome seat and waiting for the show to begin.  There’s a decent crowd for this first show of the season. It should be fun.

Hrm, it appears there will be a rare several days lining up where I might actually fit in some reading/writing, so the plan is to find a few laptop nooks. Other concerns will compete for this time, and there will be a work interruption, but I am hoping to get my head into a few things.  At the least, I plan to start editing the story for July. Otherwise, I will have to see what I can my head into.

Time to put the keyboard aside and eat some Spiritus.

While I had already been writing for years, 9 Holes can fairly be considered the public debut of Decker Peters. At the time, I was publishing under just Decker–like Cher, bitch! Published in Mandate in 2002, 9 Holes received front cover recognition. Unlike the previous two stories, 9 Holes is an example of what I term stroke fiction. I suspect this terminology clearly indicates the story’s primary narrative impulse. Yet, as I continue to draft the page Towards Sexual Realism, I hope to clarify where I see a bit of realism fitting in here. This story also prefigured my fascination with using numbers to source stories, and I hope to explore this impulse more in the future.

Here’s an excerpt from 9 Holes:

. . . He is the kind of guy you pass in the mall with a gorgeous girlfriend hanging on his arm, or you see him on the random softball field with a beautiful wife cheering him on from the stands. He is the kind of guy who wears Nike for athletics not aesthetics. Or, you see him in porn in those slick “amateur” videos featuring perfect males ass fucking each other on expensive looking furniture. You know the kind of guy I am talking about: he is perfectly tanned, perfectly toned, perfectly proportioned, perfectly handsome, and perfectly hetero. Jared belonged on the erotic screen of dreams. He was simply too good looking for the streets, this bar, or for me. This is why I was shocked when he came over and offered to buy me a beer . . .
