While Carnival is a bit of an overrated event, it can be fun.  The reason I say overrated is that one tends to find themselves subjected to a bit more exhibitionist sexual excess than is needful. In other words,you see many things you would prefer not to see. While I am not a fan of body fascist culture, I am also not a fan of looking at bodies that are perhaps better left clothed. Carnival’s [not] just another word for nothing left to loose; just because you can in Ptown does not mean you should.  The one impulse control thought that escapes many visitors.  Any who, the day was fun enough. I started out watching the Parade with a bunch of friends, and then, I went to tea with another bunch.  Drank enough to be chipper but not so much to regret it in the morning. Any who, I posted a video and some pics below.

Front Street was completely mobbed with parade spectators, kinda like New Orleans during Mardi Gras:

Again, while not a fan of body fascist culture, I must admit it was nice to cleanse the eye pallet of the negative visual residue  after a full day of exposure to it. These guys managed that for me:

Ironically, the same performative exhibitionism informs both ends of the spectrum for what one sees during Carnival week, which is why it is one of my least favorite weeks of the season.  Simply put, it’s when Ptown’s ass end hangs out, and unfortunately, the same can be said for many visitors this week.
